Local Parvovirus Outbreak

Extra Booster Recommended for Puppies 4-10 Months

We have, unfortunately, been informed by a neighbouring vet practice of a small parvovirus outbreak in young dogs.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that has the potential to cause serious, life-threatening vomiting and diarrhoea. Puppies and young dogs are more susceptible to the effects of the virus and treatment involves intense hospitalisation.

It is suspected that these cases may be due to a high environmental burden of the virus locally that is managing to break through some puppies’ vaccination immunity. Some of these dogs have had their puppy vaccinations. However, there have been NO reported cases in adult dogs that have received their annual booster vaccination(s).

How to help protect your puppy

To keep your puppy as safe as possible we are offering an Extra Parvovirus Booster Vaccination to puppies 4 to 10 months.

This booster vaccination is designed to ensure your puppy benefits from maximum immunity against the disease, which can be picked up from the environment.

The cost of this additional booster is £30.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an additional preventative measure in response to the local outbreak.

In order to maximise their immunity, puppies will still require their regular booster 12 months after their original puppy vaccination course.
